Dr. Edward G. Stephens, DDS
Dr. Ed Stephens graduated in 1997 with his DDS degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. After graduating he established his practice in Mexico, MO in 1998 with a mission of serving the Mexico and surrounding communities with outstanding general dentistry services.
Dr. Stephens’s commitment to the dental and Mexico community extends beyond dentistry, though. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Missouri Dental Association. He also actively participates in the Central Missouri Dental Association and in Legislative Days with the Missouri Dental Association.
Previously, Dr. Stephens was a board member of the YMCA, the American Red Cross, and was on the Board for MDIS. He is currently the Scout Master for Troop 57 in Mexico and is an active member of his church. He is a very involved father of three and a grandfather of two.
Dr. Tom Mooney, DDS, MDS
Dr. Tom Mooney grew up in St. Louis and attended dental school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. In August of 1987 as he was preparing to start the fall semester he met Dr. Ed Stephens at orientation and the two have been friends ever since. After graduation from dental school Dr. Mooney joined the Navy where he did a General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, practicing as a general dentist for 8 years.
His interest in orthodontics continued growing and led him to another 3 years of school in his orthodontics residency at the University of Tennessee. After his orthodontics residency, the Navy shipped him off to Okinawa, Japan where he worked on service members and their families. Following the completion of 20 years of active duty in the Navy, he retired and moved back to his native St. Louis area where he started Mooney Orthodontics in O’Fallon, MO.
Dr. Mooney was excited to reconnect with his old friend Dr. Stephens to start Mooney Orthodontics in Mexico, MO two years after returning to St. Louis. Dr. Mooney loves working with all the patients in Mexico (and occasionally getting to go to lunch with Dr. Stephens). When he’s not busy making the world a better place one smile at a time, he spends most of his time with his 3 kids and wife going to their sporting events (football, field hockey, soccer, basketball, track, lacrosse, tennis and swimming), going to their extracurricular activities (ballet, hand bell choir, and mock trial) hiking, or doing yard work (which he actually finds relaxing). He also loves history, reading as much about it as possible, and does the occasional woodworking or furniture restoration project.
